Our Story

It all began in a café in Taipei’s East District, where a group of young people returning from abroad found one another through a shared love of films and books. As we went along, we kept experimenting and refining how we choose our reads and run our discussions, so the gatherings became more than book chat. They became a space to learn together, listen well, and share life. That’s how Bookdigest came to be.

Each month, we take turns picking the book, ranging from novels and psychology to world history and personal finance. Sometimes it’s a book you’d happily pick up yourself; other times it gently nudges you beyond your comfort zone. Seeing the world through someone else’s choice keeps every month fresh and full of surprises.

We believe reading isn’t a one way intake, but a process of circling back, challenging ideas together, and letting them settle over time. Only when you chew on what you have read does it truly become your own. We meet in a different café each month.
